A few nights ago, we had a chance to catch up with old friends, M+J. I have known them for, what seems like forever. When we get together we always have a good time and fantastic food, especially if she picks the place. Trust me!!! This girl knows her food! She should start her own blog! Hint hint! 😉
So the hubs and I set off to discover a new-to-me place, Swing Wine Bar and Cafe in Olympia, WA.Located right on Capitol Lake in Olympia, the restaurant is very unassuming. If you are not looking for it you, you just might miss it!
The inside is warm and cozy…Or if the night is warm you might want to grab a seat outside…This view is pretty incredible…We grabbed our table inside and dug in!
The wine list is pages long and it took us quite a long time to decide…
They have numerous wine flights (mini tastings of 3 different wines) or you can get wines by the glass, bottle or you can keep sampling flights! I went for the bubbles! Yum!
It was the perfect accompaniment for our baked brie appetizer. To cleanse your palate between wines.
Don’t let the name of the restaurant fool you – not only are the wines fantastic but the food is absolutely decadent!
Lobster crepes with crimini mushrooms, ricotta cheese & sun-dried tomato pesto fettuccine – I know…I know…sounds weird right?
TRUST me when I say this was heavenly, just the right amount of light and decadent all rolled into an absolutely delish bite! You MUST try it!Brown sugar brined duck with blueberry-thyme chutney served with rice and vegetables. This was for me the BEST duck I have ever had. Cooked to just the right temperature. The chutney was just the right amount of sweet to complement the salt of the duck. Just heaven! Hubby had to share it with me as it was so big…poor him, right? After dinner we sat talking for what seemed like hours telling stories. I love when you can just sit in a restaurant and not worry about time kicking you out because they have to seat another table.
Oh and check out Swing Wine Bar and let me know what you think!
